Your 2026 Westfield North Lakes Local Hero is:

Diana Green

Mimi's House

Reliable. Kind. Thoughtful.

Diana Green has been awarded a $20,000 grant for their organisation, Mimi's House.

Every week, Diana Green helps children at risk of falling behind at school unlock new opportunities for learning and success. Through her volunteer work at Mimi’s House in Moreton Bay, she creates a safe and nurturing space where primary-aged children can grow in confidence, build resilience and re-engage with education.

Mimi’s House is an innovative intervention program that partners with primary schools to support the social, emotional and physical development of children from prep to grade 5. Children attend Mimi’s House once a week, a nurturing, home-like environment designed to help them re-engage with school and build the life-skills they need to thrive.

Diana is known for her calm presence there, and for the kindness she shows to everyone she meets. She takes time to understand each child’s needs, emotions and experiences. For vulnerable children, Diana is a source of stability and reassurance - a trusted adult they know they can depend on.

Diana says volunteering for two days per week has given her purpose in retirement.

“I’m motivated by a passion for making a positive impact in children’s lives, and by gratitude for my own happy childhood and my own family,” she explains.

“The joy and energy that the kids give is rewarding.”

Through her care and consistency, children grow in confidence and engage more positively with learning, and relationships, setting them up for life.

We'd like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5,000 grant for the organisation they represent
