Tommy Hilfiger: Gets to know JISOO

Tommy Hilfiger , Level 2

Q&A with Mr Tommy Hilfiger and JISOO

1. What is Tommy’s New York world, and what does it mean to be a part of it?
Tommy: New York has always been my greatest source of inspiration. It’s a place where people from every background and every creative world come together, and that mix of personalities, cultures and ideas creates an energy you can’t find anywhere else. That spirit has influenced our brand for over 40 years: optimistic, confident, polished but approachable, always balancing reinvention and heritage. Being a part of this world means you’re not just wearing a look — you’re joining a story that’s always evolving but never forgets where it came from.
JISOO: New York is at the core of Tommy’s identity. The brand has this classic American style, but it also reflects the mix of people and influences you find in the city, which gives it such a unique character. I’m very happy to be part of the Tommy family and to bring my own style to that world.

2. What was your experience shooting the campaign at The Plaza Hotel?
Tommy: It felt like a homecoming. For more than a decade, my family and I lived at The Plaza, in a penthouse overlooking Central Park, so I have so many incredible personal memories there. But The Plaza also represents something much bigger - it is an icon in itself. Since 1907, it’s been a melting pot of culture, style, creativity and community. For this campaign, we wanted to celebrate that history and infuse it with fresh talent and vibrant attitude — it’s our take on New York life today.
JISOO: I heard The Plaza has more than 100 years of history, so it was really special to shoot Tommy’s campaign at such an iconic New York location. I loved how Tommy brought something modern and playful into such a classic setting. Throughout the shoot, I really felt the elegant yet playful energy of the city. And of course, the incredible views from the hotel made it all the more memorable.

3. The theme of the campaign is “Prep Made Current.” What is modern prep to you?
Tommy: When I first started the brand, prep was about a certain uniform: polos, varsity jackets and blazers, all with an East Coast polish. Today it’s about taking those references and making them your own. The codes are still here but remixed by a generation that doesn’t feel like it has to choose between classic and current. To me, modern prep is heritage is about respecting the heritage without being limited by it.
JISOO: For me, modern prep is the signature Tommy Hilfiger look: varsity jackets, tartan prints, camel coats and classic tailoring, styled in a way that’s unexpected and playful. It's not trying so hard to look put-together that you lose your personality in the process. Anyone can make it their own — it’s current because it’s personal.

4. JISOO, do you feel like you’re joining that tradition with this campaign?
JISOO: Definitely. Music has always been such an important part of Tommy’s world, so it feels very special to be invited into that story. What I really appreciate is that Tommy always encourages me to bring my own personality to what we create together. I can be part of the Tommy world while still feeling completely like myself.

6. What has kept your collaboration ongoing for so many seasons?
JISOO: I think we understand each other really well now. Every season we try something a little different, but I’ve always felt comfortable with Tommy and the team. There’s a lot of trust between us, and I think that’s why each campaign feels natural while still showing a new side of the partnership.
Tommy: The best partnerships feel authentic. We seek a genuine alignment of values, and JISOO is no exception. She's confident, optimistic and has a global point of view, and throughout the seasons she has helped to shape and share our stories in new ways, with new audiences. We value the way she brings her own voice to the conversation, adding new dimensions to the TOMMY HILFIGER story.

6. What is your favorite piece in the collection?
Tommy: I always come back to the classics, and this collection is full of them - the cable knit sweater, the prep rugby, the quarter-zip knit, the chino. Outerwear anchors the range, fusing refined craftsmanship with modern wearability, from wool pea coats to car coats, softly padded puffers and, of course, the varsity jacket.** **That’s really what this collection is about: taking pieces you already know and love and making them feel fresh again.
