Aboriginal art workshop

Join us at Southland this NAIDOC Week as we celebrate the 2026 theme "50 Years of Deadly", celebrating five decades of NAIDOC Week - a powerful celebration of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures, history, and resilience.

During the art workshops, participants will be immersed in the ancient tradition of storytelling, learning Aboriginal symbols creating their own masterpiece - facilitated by Merindah-Gunya herself.

Friday 10 July
Book one of two sessions curated for different age groups: 10am (2 years - 5 years) & 10.40am (6 years - 12 years)
Location: Kids Club, Level 2 near Toyworld.
Cost: FREE, exclusive to Westfield Members

About the Artist: Merindah-Gunya

Bayley Mifsud is a proud Kirrae and Peek Wurrong woman of the Gunditjmara nation.

Her Aboriginal and Art name is Merindah-Gunya meaning “Beautiful Spirit” in Peek Wurrong language, gifted to her through ceremony by her parents and Elders. Practicing and sharing her culture through art and storytelling is very special to her.

We're committed to providing an inclusive and accessible environment at Westfield Southland. Westfield is a proud participant in the Hidden Disabilities Sunflower Scheme which helps to support and raise awareness for people living with a hidden disability.

We offer quiet time every Tuesday between 10.30am - 11.30am with our centre lights dimmed and music volume adjusted, find out more here.   • Bookings are not confirmed until you’ve received an email ticket.
  • This event is for children only. Children must remain under the supervision of a parent or guardian at all times.
  • Parents and guardians do not need to have a ticket for themselves, however each child attending must have received a confirmation ticket to confirm they are on the list.
  • If you can not attend after confirming your ticket, please be sure to contact us so we can refund the ticket to another customer.
