At Westfield, we know our centres are more than just shopping hubs. They are lifestyle destinations where people come to connect, share and inform.

We cultivate spaces that are inclusive and welcoming, which our communities are proud to call their own; and we contribute to the social wellbeing and cohesion of our local regions through a number of programs and services. It is through this commitment that we deliver our purpose of creating extraordinary places, connecting and enriching communities.

Westfield Local Heroes

Congratulations to our 2018 and 2019 Westfield Local Heroes, whose affiliated organisations have received a $10,000 grant to support their work, program or activities.

2019 Westfield Local Heroes
Meet your 2019 Westfield Local Heroes
Recognising all your 2019 finalists and nominees

Westfield Local Heroes is a community recognition and grants program, connecting and enriching local communities. Launched in 2018, the program spans our 40 trade areas across Australia and New Zealand. In 2019, we are awarding $1.2 million to 120 local organisations.

Westfield Local Heroes are nominated and voted for by their communities, with the outcome of the public vote determining the three successful 2019 nominees for every Westfield centre. Each of the affiliated organisations of the successful heroes will be awarded a $10,000 grant to support their work to thrive.

In February 2020, we will open nominations for the 2020 Westfield Local Heroes program, so start thinking about those people in your communities who make a difference. Check back here for further information and to nominate.

Community engagement

We work closely with key local organisations, groups and individuals to discover, celebrate and contribute to those things that are relevant and meaningful to the local community. We also invite customer and community insights via face-to-face, phone and digital channels.

At Westfield, we work with our community partners to encourage, respect and understand our community's needs through experience, by recognising and helping to resolve issues, in order for us to become recognised as an essential and integral part of the community.

Contributing to our local communities

We provide a dedicated space in all Westfield centres for community-focused groups (i.e. not-for-profit sports groups, community groups, charities and welfare organisations) to connect with people in the local area.

And our staff are passionate about giving back and we support them to do this in a variety of ways through Workplace Giving and Volunteering. For more information on any of our programs or services, please contact us by email.

The Community Hub

At Westfield Coomera, we prioritise the importance of connecting and enriching our community. Through this, we created a dedicated space for the community to access called, The Community Hub. This space is an exclusive area for community-focused groups to come together including; not-for-profits, community groups, charities, welfare organisations, schools and more. Lovers of window shopping will be pleased to know that window browsing can be good for your health.

Westfield Coomera provides a safe environment which enables walkers to get active; rain, hail or shine. Walkers who are new to physical activity or are recovering from a health issue enjoy being able to walk on a smooth surface with no obstacles and are encouraged to walk at their own pace. Walkers have access to amenities as well as plenty of seating throughout the mall should you wish to have a rest.

The Westfield Walkers meet at The Food Court and walk laps around the shopping centre every Monday, Wednesday and Thursday morning at 7am.
