Presenting your 2022 Westfield Local Hero

We are excited to announce your 2022 successful Westfield Local Hero for Coomera.

The successful Westfield Local Heroes organisation, will receive a grant of $20,000 to help them continue to grow their impact in the local community. Westfield will award 126 grants across Australia and New Zealand – totalling $1.26 million.

In early 2023, we will open nominations for the 2023 Westfield Local Heroes program, so start thinking about those people in your communities who make a difference.

Your 2022 Westfield Coomera Local Hero is:

Camille Pepper

Everything Suarve Inc
Passionate. Loving. Caring

Caring volunteer Camille Pepper turned down a paid job so she could continue helping more than 80 young locals a year to become job ready.

Camille is a full-time volunteer with Everything Suarve, a charity that helps disengaged people aged 15 to 24 turn their lives around.

Camille is there every step of the way as they complete the charity’s 10-week Big Brother program, which boosts their wellbeing, teach life skills and help them obtain employment opportunities in their desired career.

Fondly known as Aunty Camille, she helped fund the launch of the charity two years ago.

One of Camille’s greatest rewards is knowing that nine out of ten graduates move into paid employment.

Such is Camille’s dedication that she can often be found working late at night preparing resumes for the students and writing funding grants.

Otherwise, she’s in the kitchen teaching the students how to cook.
Camille hates that young people are often unfairly judged for their past behaviours.

“There are so many young people who have never been shown love, support and a pathway to a bright future. It is a daily reward to be a part of giving them love and guidance and witnessing their emotional and personal growth,” Camille says.

Everything Suarve will put the grant towards paying for the Big Brother participants’ food, transport, uniforms and wellbeing activities.

We also congratulate our finalists who will receive a $5,000 grant for the organisation they represent, and we thank them for their incredible contribution to the local community.

Nick Day from Coomera Cubs Baseball Club
Nick Day has built the Coomera Cubs Baseball Club from humble beginnings into a thriving hive of activity with over 300 junior and senior members and volunteers. Nick stepped up to the plate as club President 14 years ago. Everyone is welcome at this community group.

Tash Price from InvincAble
Invincible Tash Price leads by example in a quest to give visibility to disability and empower all people, regardless of perceived ability, to live a passionate life. Tash is the co-founder of InvicAble, which is run by people who use their lived experience with disabilities to drive diversity and inclusion.
