Westfield's Gift Card packaging Supports Country Needs People
In 2024, Westfield commissioned First Nations artist, Mali Isabel, to create the artwork, Eternal Sunshine.
Eternal Sunshine was originally created for Scentre Group (owner of Westfield destinations in Australia & NZ) for internal use during the creation and launch of our Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). As a representation of reconciliation and community, we are thrilled to also feature the artwork on our Gift Card packaging, with a percentage of proceeds going to Country Needs People.

Mali is a proud Arabana and Kokatha woman, living and creating art on Kaurna land (Adelaide) in South Australia. She’s known for her contemporary style that blends traditional dot painting as well as vibrant colours and motifs to tell stories of joy, positivity and community.
Mali explains that the artwork tells the story of “the journey of community coming together as one to celebrate life, land and love”. The piece features a meeting place where communities and generations of people meet up across their life journeys, but the running river is always keeping us “connected in some way, shape or form”. Mali included waterholes in the artwork to represent her own culture and people, Arabana mob, while “the mini rainbows represent Scentre Group and its commitment to action reconciliation”. By having Mali’s artwork on our gift card packaging, we can share the story of community and culture, and how people are at the heart of everything we do.
“For me, being a young Aboriginal woman living on Aboriginal land, reconciliation means living on a Country where we’re all united as one”, Mali told us. Reflecting on her artwork and community, Mali tells the story of Eternal Sunshine but also encourages people to create their own meanings within the story. “I want it to be an experience that’s very personal to every single person that views the painting”.

The Gift Card packaging featuring Mali Isabel’s art is available in-centre at the concierge desk.
With every Gift Card purchase, select the Eternal Sunshine packaging, and Westfield will donate 11 cents to Country Needs People, a charity which focuses on supporting and growing community-based Indigenous Rangers caring for Country.
