With one in five Australian households experiencing food insecurity – that is, a lack of consistent access to safe and nutritious meals - Darren’s pioneering work to ensure no child goes hungry at school is vital for the community. Darren is a co-founder of The Tukka Project, which employs a unique method to provide free food for children across southeast Brisbane.

4 Voices Global

Drew volunteers with 4 Voices Global in Spring Hill, a mobile service supporting women affected by domestic violence. His calm, empathetic approach fosters trust in those who may feel initial distrust. Through his own lived experience,he helps women regain strength and independence. His
presence shows men can play a positive role in rebuilding women’s lives.

The Cage Youth Foundation

Peter and his wife started The Cage foundation in 2001 to support disadvantaged young people in Redlands and families suffering isolation and hardship. Starting as events in skateparks, it’s grown into a community centre offering mentoring, meals, and crisis care. Self-funded and community-driven, Peter sustains the charity through lawn care and graffiti removal services in the local area.

Care Kits for Kids Qld Inc

As the co-founder and secretary of Care Kits for Kids QLD (CKKQ),Stephanie helps restore dignity
to children in care or crisis. Often, these children leave dangerous situations owning nothing but the clothes on their backs. Stephanie ensures they feel supported and dignified by providing them with a new backpack containing essential items such as clothing, toiletries, toys and education supplies.

The Nurtured Village Hampers

Emma Gray, founder of The Nurtured Village Hampers, is dedicated to improving maternal mental health. Inspired by the support she received after her first daughter’s birth, Emma started a kindness initiative in 2019, which has since grown into a nationwide charity. Last year, the charity delivered over 14,000 donations to 160 families in 21 communities.

Foodbank Queensland

Julie-Ann Smith has volunteered with Foodbank Queensland for over six years, packing and sorting
donations to combat food insecurity. Her dedication ensures food reaches those in need through local charities and school breakfast programs. During COVID-19, she supported fellow volunteers, maintaining social connections and support during the challenging time.

Men's Walk and Talk

Jeff Kruger has developed a safe, simple and effective way for hundreds of local men to speak about their feelings and improve their wellbeing. Jeff is the co-founder and treasurer of Men's Walk and Talk, a not-for-profit group that holds weekly gatherings in Minnippi Parklands and at the Manly Boathouse for men to get out in the fresh air and chat about any issues they might have.

Beyond DV Ltd

Sandra Sorbello has spent five years going above and beyond to help women and children rebuild their lives after domestic and family violence. Sandra is a caring first point of contact for
women seeking support at Beyond DV’s HOPE Hub. She listens empathetically and reassures people they are not alone.

Our Pixie Friends

Young Siobhan Wilson dedicates her life to helping other children feel good about themselves and donating money to medical research. Aged 14, Siobhan is the founder of Our Pixie Friends, where she has four ways of helping. These include website resources and picture books about coping with life's challenges and including those who feel isolated.
