Reading Cinemas: Celebrate Toy Story 5 by rehoming your toys

Reading Cinemas: Toy Story 5 Toy Drive

Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 is landing in cinemas on 18 June, and this time, Woody, Buzz, Jessie and the gang are inspiring a real-world mission to help pre-loved toys find brand-new homes.

To celebrate the release, Save the Children Australia is working with The Walt Disney Company Australia, Reading Cinemas and TerraCycle to launch a heartwarming initiative, running from 12 June to 19 July. It’s your chance to share the magic of play by passing on gently used toys to children who need them most.

Catch Disney and Pixar’s Toy Story 5 in cinemas
Toy Story 5 will be showing at Reading Cinemas nationwide from 18 June, with daily screening times available morning, afternoon and evening.

In this new instalment, playtime is changing as the toys meet Lilypad – a tablet with bold new ideas about how kids should play. With their purpose challenged, the gang must once again prove why imagination, creativity and connection matter most.

Donate your toys at Reading Cinemas

Look out for the Toy Story 5-themed donation booths in the foyer of your local Reading Cinemas. These collection points make it easy to donate gently used items, including:

  • Educational toys
  • Building blocks and puzzles
  • Children’s books
  • Plush toys in good condition
  • Games and creative play items

Simply bring along your quality, pre-loved toys and place them in the donation boxes during your visit.

“Our cinema teams look forward to collecting toy donations to help make play possible for every child regardless of their circumstances,” said Mark Douglas, Managing Director of Reading Cinemas Australia & New Zealand.

Where your toys will go

Every donated toy begins a new adventure. Many will be sold through Save the Children op shops, helping to raise funds for vital programs that support children and families across Australia and around the world.

Others will be used directly in Play2Learn programs, where they support early childhood development through play, giving children access to safe, stimulating learning environments. And if a toy isn’t quite suitable for reuse? That’s where TerraCycle comes in – ensuring those items are responsibly recycled, keeping toys out of landfill and contributing to a more sustainable future.
