This month, we had the chance to catch up with store manager Caitlin, deputy manager Afrikah, and their team from LSKD. Afrikah shared her insights, giving us a deeper look into their team’s experience and success.

LSKD has quickly become a favourite for fitness enthusiasts and style seekers alike. What truly sets them apart is their genuine connection to the local community and the energetic team behind the store. Read on as we dive into what makes LSKD and their North Lakes team stand out.

How long have you been working at LSKD, and what’s it like being part of the North Lakes team?

I have been with LSKD since August 2023, originally starting in the events space as a casual on weekends and then developing my career into the retail space where I am now a deputy manager here at North Lakes. The team here at our North Lakes store are amongst some of the most passionate and driven individuals I have worked with. Each team member brings their own unique spark to our team and it is what makes the North Lakes store so fun to be a part of.

How important is it to have team members who understand and are connected to the North Lakes community?

Our North Lakes community is what drives and motivates the team each day to continue to provide the best and most unique in-store experiences. Some of you may have seen us around! Each one of our educators are out weekly sweating with our local fitness communities and this is what allows us to stay connected and create meaningful connections with our community. Learning how they like to sweat, what they like to wear and having genuine conversations keeps our community at the heart of what we do.

The opening day event was energetic and incredible, drawing hundreds of loyal LSKD fans. What exciting plans do you have for the North Lakes community in 2025?

The opening day was insane! We had upwards of 500+ people come through our doors, creating such a hype for us all. Our team work hard alongside our store athletes and local gym communities to organise monthly events. We just had our January run event in which we ran/walked 5 km around Lake Eden together. In February we are teaming up with a local gym and our store athlete Casey Scherman to host a functional based workout for our community who are competing at HYROX Brisbane in March. Our upcoming events can be found on our community board in-store or on the LSKD website under ‘Events’ so be sure to keep an eye out.

Are there any fun or inspiring team stories from the set-up or opening of the North Lakes store?

During the opening of the store and in the weeks leading up, we saw so many team members come together to work absolute magic! We had many weeks in which the team from our HQ worked closely alongside our in-store team to get everything up and running. It was fantastic to see the locals rally around us as well from surrounding businesses. From bringing us many coffees and snacks to just being there and listening to our stories. For the North Lakes team it was incredibly inspiring for them to start their LSKD journey with the team from HQ whom started in similar positions.

How do you ensure your team embodies the LSKD ethos of "1% better everyday"?

Here at LSKD our team is all about developing both their personal and professional lives. Through our core books and in-store library the team are constantly learning each day and growing as a collective to help serve our community. Our unique culture and all our values have been derived from our books and the way in which our team holds themselves in life and in-store. This is a great representation of how being 1% better everyday truly is embodied.

What’s the team’s approach to ensuring every customer has a memorable experience?

In-store at LSKD North Lakes we are here to support our community coming through the doors in the most unique of ways. Each in-store experience our community has, is based on the individual and their needs for that particular moment. Whether it’s searching for the perfect pair of tights for their training needs, a new tee or just to pop in and see what new product we have. We pride ourselves on exceptional interactions with our community and the team's approach to this changes day to day. As an ever growing brand we try to keep all our interactions with our community as personalised as we can to maintain a sense of belonging.

How do LSKD products cater to both fitness enthusiasts and those looking for everyday style?

At LSKD we pride ourselves on offering a range of everyday wear not just fitness gear. Throughout our different pillars in-store we showcase a variety of products for those seeking a more relaxed street aesthetic through to those seeking products for high performance training. We highly value our community's feedback and are always seeking to use it in upcoming design processes.

What’s one thing you’d like first-time visitors to know about LSKD?

As our CEO and founder Jason Daniel says, "It’s always day one". We are forever growing as a brand and are constantly seeking to improve in all departments. For our new community and visitors we want you to know that our brand is more than activewear. It is about functionality, inclusivity and overall comfort. We can't wait to welcome you in-store.

Any advice for people starting their fitness or lifestyle journey with LSKD gear?

Our only advice for those getting started with our products is to just have fun and enjoy the journey!
