Meet your Local: Blue Heeler Boots
Blue Heeler Boots
Discover the heart of Westfield North Lakes with our Meet your Local series. We will take you on a journey to meet the people in our stores and learn more about what they offer in the North Lakes community.
This month, we sat down with Victoria and Jan from Blue Heeler Boots North Lakes to learn more about their passion for bringing well-fitted, quality footwear to the community. They’re dedicated to offering durable boots and shoes for men, women, and children – perfect for work, leisure, and everything in between.
At their store, practicality meets style. From tough, hard-wearing boots to versatile everyday shoes, the team ensures every customer finds the perfect fit, making each visit personal and memorable. Blue Heeler Boots is quickly becoming a go-to spot for those who value quality, comfort, and expert advice.
Introduce yourself and a little about Blue Heeler Boots?
Myself (Victoria) and Jan are the family owners of Blue Heeler Boots, a proudly local Queensland business that’s been fitting boots since 2001. Our new North Lakes store inside Westfield brings trusted work and lifestyle boot brands together under one roof, making it easier for locals to shop quality footwear with personal service
If you had to describe your store in three words, what would they be?
Authentic. Reliable. Local.

What sets Blue Heeler Boots apart?
We aren’t just another chain shoe shop. We offer a hand-picked range of Australia’s most trusted brands, expert fitting advice, and genuine after-care tips. Customers know us for our personal service, our local roots, and our focus on long-lasting quality rather than fast fashion.
What’s your most popular boot in-store?
At North Lakes, the Blundstone 585 is by far the customer favourite. It’s versatile enough for work or weekend wear, with unbeatable comfort straight out of the box. Close behind is our Birkenstock Arizona in Mocca, Tabacco Brown and Habana.

Any tips for customers looking to invest in a good pair of boots?
Think about where you’ll be wearing them most. If it’s on the job site, safety features and durability are key. If it’s for leisure or in the office, comfort and versatility matter most. And don’t be afraid to try a few pairs on - every brand fits a little differently. A great pair of boots should feel supportive right from the start.
Any secret tips for keeping boots looking great over time?
The secret is by following the below:
- Clean off dust and mud with a soft brush weekly.
- Use a quality leather conditioner or boot polish once a month.
- Always dry boots naturally - never near direct heat.
- Swap insoles every 6–12 months for long-term comfort.
Little steps go a long way in keeping boots looking sharp and lasting years longer.

Any new styles or brands you’re excited to bring in soon?
Yes! We’re expanding our range of Ringers Western dress boots and introducing a few new Red Wing heritage styles for customers who want premium, handcrafted leather boots. We’re always listening to what locals ask for, so keep an eye out for more lifestyle styles coming in this season.
What are your top tips for breaking in a new pair of boots?
By following four things:
- Wear them for short periods at first—an hour or two a day.
- Pair with thick socks to reduce rubbing.
- Use a leather conditioner to soften the leather.
- Don’t rush it - good boots will mold to your feet over a week or two.
Patience pays off: once broken in, a quality boot feels like a second skin.
