Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

Neil Davis

Sammy D Foundation

Empathetic. Committed. Impactful.

For 18 years, the Sammy D Foundation has delivered evidence-based violence-prevention education across South Australia, with Neil Davis leading that work throughout. Through school presentations covering bullying, youth violence and decision-making, Neil and his team have reached hundreds of thousands of young people, helping them navigate challenges and make safer choices. 

If Neil is successful, the grant will fund around 15 violence-prevention education sessions for young people in Adelaide's southern suburbs, reaching an estimated 900 to 1,000 students.

Renee Staska 

Little Heroes Foundation

Compassionate. Brave. Inspiring.

As an ambassador for Little Heroes Foundation, Renee helps families who are navigating serious childhood illness to find guidance, resources and connections. She speaks at events to raise awareness, and helps to develop practical resources. Renee has three children, all diagnosed with a form of childhood dementia, and draws on her personal experience as a way of supporting others.

If Renee is successful, the grant will help co-fund the Little Heroes Family Care program, providing home modifications, mobility equipment and respite for families of seriously ill children.

Wendy Hall

Dementia Doulas Australia

Engaging. Knowledgeable. Caring.

Caring for a family member with dementia can be isolating, but through Dementia Doulas Wendy Hall builds connections and practical support that help carers manage their daily challenges. Having founded the organisation, she now runs support groups and trains Dementia Doulas, non-professionals who provide emotional and practical support for people living with the condition and their families.

If Wendy is successful, the grant will fund community workshops, practical carer resources and subsidised one-to-one support across Blackwood and Southern Adelaide.
