Presenting your 2022 Westfield Local Hero
We are excited to announce your 2022 successful Westfield Local Hero for Innaloo.
The successful Westfield Local Heroes organisation, will receive a grant of $20,000 to help them continue to grow their impact in the local community. Westfield will award 126 grants across Australia and New Zealand – totalling $1.26 million.
In early 2023, we will open nominations for the 2023 Westfield Local Heroes program, so start thinking about those people in your communities who make a difference.
Your 2022 Westfield Innaloo Local Hero is:
Catherine Natale
ADHD WA (Inc)
Caring. Resourceful. Inclusive

Resourceful Catherine Natale is a warm and caring supporter of families who live with the challenges of attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD).
As a board member of non-profit ADHD WA, Catherine is the friendly face of the organisation as the leader of the membership and marketing portfolios.
It’s a testament to Catherine’s drive and commitment that membership has soared from 400 to 1100 since she took over in 2020 and is still growing.
Mindful of the financial hardship ADHD places on families and with a zero-dollar marketing budget to work with, she has identified several initiatives that are free to both members and the organisation.
Families now enjoy quarterly picnics at Leederville Bowling Club. They understand each other’s challenges and connect without fear of judgment. Importantly, children and parents make new friends and get together for playdates and chats.
Another success is Catherine’s monthly walk and talks around Lake Monger, with coffee at the bowling club afterwards.
As a mum of a child with ADHD, Catherine values the opportunity to make a difference for other families. “Finding our tribe and being with people experiencing similar challenges, barriers and struggles helps us all. Our members are desperate for help,” Catherine says.
ADHD WA will put the grant towards running a five-week program to help parents navigate ADHD with their children.
We also congratulate our finalists who will receive a $5,000 grant for the organisation they represent, and we thank them for their incredible contribution to the local community.

Charisa Dorrington from 12 Buckets Inc
Charisa Dorrington has spent five years volunteering for 12 Buckets, where she changes lives by helping at-risk children build confidence and re-engage with their schooling. Charisa does this through building connection with the child at weekly one-on-one mentoring, that help grow their confidence, learn generosity, and support them to try new experiences.
Janice Saunders from Superfins WA Inc
Inclusive Janice Saunders works relentlessly to promote water safety for children with a disability, foster social interaction and support athletes to participate in community competitions. Janice has been the Chairperson of Superfins WA for 21 years, where she has helped hundreds of people and is an inspiring role model for the disability swimming communities.
