The story behind the Broncos Indigenous Boots

This NAIDOC Week, Westfield Helensvale is proud to showcase the Brisbane Broncos Indigenous boots.
Our display case celebrates the Broncos’ enduring connection to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples, highlighting the creativity, culture and stories of students from the Beyond the Broncos school-based mentoring and empowerment program, which spans 51 schools across Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
Selected students were invited to showcase their artistic talents by creating their own boot design and accompanying story. Each pair of boots features deep personal storytelling, drawing on the students’ culture, identity and connection to Country. Through the use of tribal symbols, totems, hometown tributes and traditional dot painting techniques, the designs tell stories of people coming together and celebrate Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
Created with care and dedication over many hours, these incredible artworks have been worn by Brisbane Broncos players during the NRL Indigenous Round, providing a powerful platform to share the voices and stories of the next generation.

The Brisbane Broncos Indigenous boots will be worn during both of the Club’s Indigenous Round fixtures at Suncorp Stadium, against the Dolphins on Saturday 8 August and the Warriors on Saturday 15 August.
