6 top trending beauty treatments to try this party season

The social season is here. If you’re anything like us (fans of loungewear and fuzzy slippers), a glow-up might be in order. Happily, beauty treatments geared around getting you ‘party-ready’ are a dime a dozen. From hydrating facials – just the thing for faking instant radiance – to spray tans and lash lifts, there’s loads to choose from. Prefer to DIY? There are plenty of salon treatment-inspired products out there, too. Whether you’re planning to pencil in every bar crawl you can find or are just looking forward to having mates over for antipasti, we’ve got you covered on your next event.

Hydrating facial

Party season usually means alcohol, late nights and more makeup than usual, all of which can contribute to stressed out skin. An oldie but a goodie, hydrating facials are a quick fix for dehydration-induced dullness. The skincare used will differ depending on which salon you visit, but you can bet the products will feature moisture-boosting ingredients. To get similar results at home, invest in a hydrating serum and face mask combo featuring hyaluronic acid, provitamin B5 or niacinamide (or all of the above) and use twice weekly.

LED facial

LED facials have been around for a while – you’ll probably have heard of Omnilux – but they’ve recently had a resurgence in popularity. These treatments dial up glow by using different wavelengths of light to stimulate the skin’s own collagen production. (FYI, there are also options for healing acneic skin.) After twenty minutes under an LED lamp you’ll see instant radiance, but most salons recommend a series of treatments for best results. If you’re keen on an at-home version, you can find cost-effective LED masks in select beauty stores.

Brow lamination

A beauty trend with stamina, brow lamination isn’t going away anytime soon. Not familiar? Iis all about perming the brow hairs to lay upwards (versus sideways) for a naturally full and fluffy look. If you’re keen to try it, you’ll need to set aside an hour or so for a salon appointment as the treatment takes time to get right. Alternatively, pick up a DIY brow or lash perming kit and have a crack at it yourself. (Google how-to videos on YouTube before you start.) Brow soap is a great alternative – they mimic the look but wash right out.

Lash tint, lift and extensions

Is there anything better than freshly enhanced brows and lashes? Perfect for the time-poor, they make achieving party beauty that much quicker. If you haven’t already, level up your look with a lash lift – aka a lash perm – for unparalleled curl or invest in lash extensions for an all-day glam look. Home tint kits are also easy to use and many can do double duty on brows and lashes. (Check the packaging to be sure.) Home perm systems are a little trickier. If in doubt, go the easy route with a pair of classic falsies or magnetised lashes. They might seem fiddly but nothing else adds as much oomph.

Spray tan

While real suntans are very much out – seriously, tanning ups your risk for skin cancer and melanoma – spray tans are still going strong. If you’re a fan, look for salons that offer hydrating tanning formulas for maximum wear. (You’ll also need to moisturise daily and exfoliate every few days to prevent flaking as the tan fades.) Not keen to get your kit off in front of a stranger? DIY formulas have come a long way in recent years. Even the most affordable brands offer natural-looking results. No lie, you can pick up a winner at the supermarket or pharmacy.
