Cecil Avenue smart street works

From Monday 27 May until mid-November the City of Canning will be undertaking works on Cecil Avenue to create the City’s first smart street. The smart street will be the first stage of the City’s $76million City Centre Regeneration Program.

During the City of Canning’s works, Cecil Avenue will be restricted to one way only, with traffic flowing in a northern direction, from Albany Highway toward Carousel Avenue.

Please be aware that during this time traffic along Cecil avenue may be slower than usual and we encourage you to consider taking alternate routes during peak periods.

The Smart Street Project will include installing smart poles equipped with technology to support traffic monitoring systems, CCTV, environmental monitoring, WiFi connectivity, electric vehicle charging and energy-saving lighting.

The project will also include the construction of an attractive pedestrian environment, with big street trees, brick paving and improved pedestrian access across Cecil Avenue.
