Your 2025 Westfield West Lakes Local Hero is:
Nikki Doman
1st Flinders Park Scout Group
Hardworking. Resourceful. Empowering.

Nikki is an extraordinary volunteer who balances full-time work and single motherhood while dedicating countless hours to the 1st Flinders Park Scout Group. As a Joey and Cub Scout Leader and active committee member, she goes above and beyond—often working late into the night and spending her spare time organising and maintaining the Scout Hall to ensure a welcoming space for all.
Her commitment has transformed the lives of hundreds of children, helping them develop resilience, confidence, and essential life skills. Nikki has a rare gift for building meaningful, lasting connections with young people, inspiring them to step outside their comfort zones and reach their full potential.
“I’m motivated by seeing the kids grow, develop new skills, and gain confidence through Scouts,” she says. “I love watching them embrace challenges, from teamwork and problem-solving to outdoor survival.”
Nikki’s inclusive approach ensures every child feels valued and supported. Her influence extends beyond Scouts, creating a ripple effect that strengthens families and the wider community.
“It’s not just about activities—it’s about shaping the next generation and fostering a love for the outdoors,” Nikki explains. “Knowing these lessons will stay with them for life makes it incredibly rewarding.”
The $20,000 grant will be used to fund a new outdoor area and camping equipment for everybody to enjoy.
We’d like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5K grant for the organisation they represent...

Lyndelle Connor from Port Adelaide District Baseball Club (Miracle League of Port Adelaide)
Lyndelle brought Australia’s first Miracle League program to Port Adelaide, enabling children with disabilities to play baseball using adaptive equipment and a buddy system. Overcoming significant hurdles to start the US-based program, she now fosters inclusion in the sport for more than 30 children, while inspiring teen volunteers and raising awareness in the community.
