Announcing your 2024 Westfield Local Hero
We are excited to announce Guy Morel from The Mind Cafe Narrabeen as your 2024 Westfield Local Hero for Warringah Mall!
Westfield is proud to award a community grant of $20K to help Guy Morel at The Mind Cafe Narrabeen to continue to grow their impact in the local community.
The 2024 Westfield Local Heroes program will award 125 grants across Australia and New Zealand – totaling $AUD1.24 million to support local communities.
Your 2024 Westfield Warringah Mall Local Hero is:
Guy Morel
The Mind Cafe Narrabeen
Kind. Compassionate. Inclusive.

As the founder of The Mind Cafe in Narrabeen, Guy Morel believes that supporting mental wellbeing is the key to creating healthy communities.
Guy founded the cafe to create a safe, inclusive space focused on mental health. Inspired by his own mental health journey and experience as a disability support worker, Guy employs people facing mental health challenges or living with disability, promoting social inclusion.
Guy offers mental health services alongside food and drinks including the weekly Coffee with Kindness service, encouraging locals to have a coffee and a chat with a trained volunteer counsellor, and the Bowl of Kindness and Hope initiative providing prepaid coffee for those who need a pick-me-up. After hours Friday through Sunday, Guy hosts safe space evenings to support anyone in distress.
The Mind Café also offers the space for others to provide complimentary services to the community including Men’s Table, MoWaNa Safe Space, The Belong Group, Mental Health First Aid and Suicide Intervention Training.
"Our purpose is what motivates me," says Guy. "I love making a difference and impacting people in such a powerful way."
Guy's commitment provides everyone a safe and judgement-free environment and ensures the community is socially and emotionally connected, positively impacting thousands.
Westfield Local Heroes are nominated and voted for by their communities. The finalist with the most community votes is the Westfield Warringah Local Hero for 2024, receiving a $20,000 grant for the organisation they represent. The Mind Cafe will use the grant to pay for two permanent employees of The Mind Cafe to undergo counselling training. This will ensure more locals can receive easily accessible support from a trained counsellor.
We'd like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5K grant for the organisation they represent...
