Ron Ould: A valued member of the community
We would like to acknowledge one of our Westfield Local Hero alumni, Ron Ould, who sadly passed away earlier this month.
Ron Ould was a valued member of the community and a dedicated volunteer for multiple organisations in Brisbane’s southside area.
Lions International member Ron Ould knew things would get done when organisations work together instead of separately.
He was the go-to person for community groups who would arrange help through his many connections when people were in need.
“I have always tried to be a committed member of the community,” said Ron.
“I have established a large network of not-for-profit organisations who assist the ever-growing group of low socio-economic households.”
Ron was a member of the Macgregor Lions for 18 years and worked on different projects to support seniors, children and people with disabilities.
His efforts helped support front-line services such as the YMCA Breakfast For Schools program, Access Street Vans, Mackenzie Special School as well as Mt Gravatt Community Centre and Southside Community Care.
Ron received many Lions International Awards acknowledging his dedicated service as a volunteer and his contribution to the betterment of the community.
These include a prestigious Melvin Jones Fellow and Professor Ian Frazer Humanitarian Award.
He was a member of the Red Cross and was presented with a local Queensland Day Community Award in 2009 and has many certificates of appreciation in acknowledgement of his work in the community.
