Since he was 19 years old, James has been visiting schools throughout Southeast Queensland to deliver educational mental health talks. Now he runs the charity he founded, BreakingFree, with the mission of ensuring all young people learn how to look after their mental health and wellbeing.

Street University

Dee runs Street University in Logan, which offers programs to help young people experiencing problems with crime, drugs or mental health. Dee and the team provide counselling and treatment, helping people aged between 12 and 25 through music, education, recreation and employment support. He ensures youth feel valued, empowered and connected, regardless of their backgrounds.

Equus Terra

Irina’s therapeutic horse-riding organisation, Equus Terra, supports people with autism, ADHD, mental health problems and trauma. Self-funded and deeply committed for the past ten years, her equine-assisted healing has helped nearly 1,000 adults and children to grow emotionally and adapt better to the world around them."

Muslim Charitable Foundation

For the past 15 years, Yusuf Khatree has supported underprivileged members of our community. His not-forprofit organisation, the Muslim Charitable Foundation (MCF), provides emergency housing,
food aid and financial assistance to anyone in need. Clients are usually referred to MCF by other
organisations that do not have the capacity to help.

Jo Westh is the founder of the 4 Voices Global, an organisation she create to find her own voice and help other women find theirs. The volunteer-run charity offers digital and social connection in three vans that park at 16 Queensland locations.

REKON

Rolando Pisia is passionate about empowering at-risk youth. As director of REKON, Rolando provides inclusive youth programs designed to give young people the tools and support they need. The programs promote positive personal development and social-emotional learning through artistic expression and sports. Between 2020 and 2023, REKON supported over 18,200 young people.

The Boxing Shop: Boxing Beyond Barriers

Compassionate Gareth Williams positively influences thousands of youth with his innovative schoolbased boxing program. Gareth is the founder and leader of The Boxing Shop, a successful gym from where he runs an outreach program at 30 schools and community groups for disengaged youth.

The Bangle Foundation

Yasmin Khan is the founder of The Bangle Foundation, where she has spent 10 years as a beacon of hope for hundreds of local South Asian Australian women affected by domestic violence. Yasmin’s volunteers are on call 24 hours a day and have the cultural knowledge and language to understand the unique needs of migrants.
