Experience the Brisbane Street Art Festival

Get hands on with workshops and murals from up and coming artists with Westfield Mt Gravatt and the Brisbane Street Art Festival.

Brisbane Street Art Festival is an annual public art event that seeks to provide opportunities for creative practitioners and the wider community to develop positive partnerships through engagement and collaboration.

Since 2016, Brisbane Street Art Festival has rapidly grown into one of the largest Street Art festivals in Australia, and has now partnered with Westfield Mt Gravatt to bring their art to the centre! Join us for a live-painting session where you can watch a mural come to life, and tap into your creative side with Colour By Numbers and Aerosol Workshops.

Mural

We are excited to be collaborating with local artist, Mincho, on a mural to liven up the ramp between Level 1 & 2 near Rebel. Mincho is a 29 year old, Columbian born artist who has always had a passion for animation and mural making. Mincho uses vibrant colours and artistic characters in his creative process and hopes to bring imagination to life with his art.
Now a Gold Coast local with 10 years of experience creating art with an array of brands and organisations, we are honored to be working with Mincho to bring a sense of creativity and vibrancy to Westfield Mt Gravatt.

You can see Mincho working on the mural from Monday 6 May.

Colour by Numbers

In this hands-on experience, you will be guided through the completion of a simple mural work with an experienced artist. With the outlines of the mural ready to go, you’ll splash on colour to bring this mural to life – while gaining knowledge of mural art techniques, colour theory, and scaling up artworks for walls.

  • Thursday 9 May from 11am - 12pm
  • Friday 10 May from 11am - 12pm

Art materials will be supplied. Bookings are essential, purchase your ticket for $5 per person. Purchase tickets here.

Aerosol Workshop

An experienced aerosol artist will guide your group through a collaborative wall work, introducing the team to marking, spraying, and conceptual techniques. Beginner patrons will leave with a more comprehensive knowledge of the skills required to complete a mural work, while more experienced attendees will have the opportunity to improve their technique. Explore the range of cans on the market, the variety of caps, working with various surfaces, and much more.
