Westfield Kotara welcomes Gidget House

Westfield Kotara is proud to welcome Gidget House, a dedicated space providing free psychological support for expectant, new and potential parents.
Delivered by Gidget Foundation Australia, the new location brings specialist perinatal mental health services closer to families across the Newcastle & Hunter, helping parents access timely care and support throughout their parenting journey.

Supporting local families

Perinatal depression and anxiety affect 1 in 5 mothers and 1 in 10 fathers across Australia. Gidget Foundation Australia exists to ensure parents can access specialist support when they need it most through awareness, advocacy, education and clinical services.

Established in memory of a young mother affectionately known as Gidget, the Foundation continues to support families with compassionate, evidence based care.

What is Gidget House?

Gidget House provides free individual psychological counselling for expectant, new and potential parents, available face to face or through the Start Talking telehealth program.

Parents referred to Gidget House can access:

• An initial assessment to discuss their needs and concerns
• Individual counselling and therapy for perinatal mental health challenges
• Ongoing support from experienced mental health professionals

Services are Medicare bulk billed with a GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan.
