Introducing Colour to a Neutral Gal’s Wardrobe, by Kate Kohler.

Nude Lucy, Level 2

“I want to wear more colour but don’t know where to start because I love neutrals” is something I hear VERY often, particularly coming into Spring. Adding colour to the wardrobe requires intent, it’s not something I want you to buy unless you can’t wait to wear it. Whether you start with a cute tank or dive into a statement maxi, Nude Lucy has it all and I’m going to convince you to WANT to wear colour this season.

Words, photos and styling by Westfield Kotara stylist, Kate Kohler.

Let’s start with the Darcy Pant and Fleur Scarf; a highly versatile pant and a great colour for those who like the idea of white but are nervous about keeping it clean. A scarf top is fun, flirty and this particular print will shake up your block-colour obsession but will also style effortlessly with the Amani Linen Skirt. Just imagine – the sun is shining, Aperol Spritz in hand, brunch with the girls…you can see it can’t you? But remember, we are buying with intent and I want some of these pieces to work hard for you casually, which is why I love this skirt styled with a pop of colour in the Organic Lounge Singlet in Lagoon Blue.

Nude Lucy is renown for a lil abstract print that can convert a neutral-loving gal because often the colour combinations feel subtle but a bit fun. Made from stretch jersey, the Liora Mini Dress is figure hugging and high on the comfort scale. Featuring an asymmetric neckline and drawstring shoulder detail, this is an extremely flattering shape for all bust sizes.

Want a statement maxi this Spring? Please, please, please trust me and try on the Tilly Maxi Dress. They’re calling it Wasabi Green and I adore it. Featuring a sexy low back and halter neck, this tencel fabric will melt over your body and serve you well into Summer. Style with high heels for formal events or opt for slides for a Sunday long lunch.

For those who love beige, this is your introduction to pink. Meet the Talitha Mini Dress: the softest shade of pink that will feel feminine yet classic. Fully lined (very important) and draped through the body, this dress does a lot of work and won’t push you too far out of your comfort zone. For those who love colour, be bold and opt for red, orange, fuchsia or lemon accessories – keep going with colour! For those wanting to keep it classic, opt for white or even chocolate accessories.
