The Project aims to build a stronger, more connected community by bringing together residents and local new arrivals at The Caffeine Garden for one hour of relaxed, real-life conversation each week. These informal sessions help new arrivals strengthen their English conversational skills while fostering meaningful connections across the community.

We are seeking 10 volunteer Coffee Buddies from a diverse range of backgrounds and representing all walks of life. As a Coffee Buddy you will:

• Be comfortable engaging in relaxed, one-on-one conversations with English learners.
• Be available every Tuesday from 08 September to 20 October 2026 from 11:00am - 12:00pm.
• Be interested in supporting new arrivals as they settle into the Georges River community.
• Have a good level of English proficiency. No teaching experience is required.
• Be available to participate in a short telephone interview and attend a one-hour online induction session.
• Be friendly, patient, and enjoy meeting and connecting with new people
