Casey Lyons
LIVIN
Determined. Loyal. Kind.

As co-founder and CEO of the charity LIVIN, Casey is committed to breaking down stigma around mental health. Through his work with LIVIN, he aims to raise awareness and to give people the space to openly discuss their struggles and seek help without fear of judgement.
Casey set up the organisation following the loss of a close friend. “My best friend, Dwayne, lived with depression and bipolar disorder, but due to a lack of understanding and education, he struggled to talk about it,” says Casey.
“Dwayne felt different, he believed he was a burden and that the world would be better without him. Which just wasn't true! After his passing, I realised how many others, just like Dwayne, were suffering in silence. This heartbreaking reality motivated me to take action.”
This passion has led Casey to build many initiatives to support people’s mental wellbeing, including the ‘It Ain’t Weak to Speak’ campaign, community workshops, resources, and events that engage and educate people of all ages on the importance of mental health care. This essential prevention and early intervention education helps to bolster their understanding of mental health and ultimately support their wellbeing.
“I want to educate, raise awareness, and create a culture where people feel safe to speak up,” says Casey. “No one should suffer alone. That’s why I do this work.”
The $20,000 grant will be used to expand its mental health education programs to 20 schools.
We’d like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5K grant for the organisation they represent...
