Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

Amy Hunter-Flint

The Outpost

Compassionate. Strategic. Courageous.

Amy Hunter-Flint is both a weekly volunteer and Board Chair for The Outpost in Geelong, a vital service providing hot meals, food relief, clothing and support to up to 120 people 365 days a year. As Board Chair, she has led the organisation through escalating demand during the cost-of-living crisis, and has lived rough for a week to truly understand and advocate for the challenges faced by people experiencing homelessness.

If Amy Hunter-Flint is successful, the grant will fund food and essential supplies, escalating operating costs such as rent and services, and volunteer training and safety initiatives.

Nicki Dunne

Wombat's Wish

Caring. Dedicated. Impactful.

Nicki Dunne has spent 35 years supporting vulnerable children and families across Geelong and the Bellarine Peninsula. Now leading at Wombat's Wish, she provides early grief support to children aged five to 17 who have lost a parent. Through free, accessible help - including counselling and family days - Nicki guides young people from isolation towards connection and emotional wellbeing.

If Nicki Dunne is successful, the grant will go towards funding a camp for 10 families, providing grief support and reducing isolation.

Scott Smith

Geelong Stars Sport Club

Passionate. Fair. Patient.

Scott Smith’s Geelong Stars gives children and young people living with disabilities a welcoming place to play sport, build confidence and belong. Through adaptive programs including football, basketball, gymnastics, golf, cycling, running and walking, Scott helps make participation possible for every family.

If Scott Smith is successful, the grant will be used to expand the program to new locations within the region to fund more programs and the necessary enabling equipment.
