The Rise Foundation Australia

Ben founded the Rise Foundation Australia, based in Maroubra, because he believes that mental
health is ‘everyone’s business’. It’s his mission to educate people about mental health and wellbeing.Through workshops and courses delivered locally, regionally and globally, he helps people to understand the signs of poor mental health, so they can better support, protect and respond to those in need.

SOS Preschool

Eliza leads SOS Preschool in Randwick, offering inclusive,
play-based education for children, including those with
diverse support needs and families needing financial
assistance. SOS develops strong family involvement and
lasting community connections. Eliza collaborates with
local professionals to support 130 children annually through
the not-for-profit centre, championing accessible early
education.

The Equanimity Project

Karen supports women and children escaping domestic violence through her work with The Equanimity Project in Pagewood. She helps them to rebuild their lives and their confidence, by offering emotional support, empathy, and pathways to counselling and financial aid. She also mentors students on work placements and helps develop understanding, respect and awareness across the community.

Souths Juniors

At nearly 80 years old, Charlie Gallico has dedicated more than 30 years to supporting his community. Charlie works as a South Sydney Juniors trainer, and the South Sydney Rabbitoh’s mascot – Reggie Rabbit.

The Minhi’s Netball Club

Emilie Barker co-founded The Minhi’s Netball Club in memory of loved ones and to promote good health among First Nations People. Emilie balances multiple roles as president, competition coordinator, student and carer for her Nan. With over 100 members, Emilie has created an inclusive environment that celebrates Aboriginal culture and promotes well-being.

Bayside Women’s Shelter

Jack Broughton is a volunteer director at Bayside Women’s Shelter, a crisis accommodation refuge for women and children. With a background in information technology, Jack has implemented best practices in IT and cybersecurity at the shelter. His efforts have enhanced the shelter’s
operational efficiency and improved its service.

The Survivor Hub

Empathetic Anna Coutts-Trotter has cocreated a safe space for survivors of sexual assault to come together and heal. Anna co-founded Survivor Hub, which hosts regular MeetUps across Sydney, Melbourne, various regional locations and online. Anna was inspired to start the hub after after an isolating court process as a survivor of sexual and domestic violence.

Diva Charity Incorporated

Selfless Christina Iskander has devoted years to helping people in need through her Diva Charity. One project close to her heart is her Sunday food drive for social housing residents in South
Maroubra. No questions are asked, and anyone can benefit from the homecooked meals, groceries and community connection her charity provides.

Charity Bounce

Big-hearted former basketball professional Kevin White goes
above and beyond to make a positive impact on thousands of
disadvantaged children and young adults. Kevin is the youth
engagement and player liaison for Charity Bounce, where he
helps the players transfer what they learn on the court to the
life skills they need off the court.
