Did You Know?
Earwax occurs naturally in the ear canal and is actually good for your ears, helping keep skin healthy and prevent infection. Earwax also assists in the cleaning and lubrication of your ear canal.
What is Audika's approach to earwax removal?
If there is a need to remove earwax, our expert clinicians will recommend the most suitable method at your appointment, depending on your individual ear and wax type.
Our professional earwax removal services could include:
Earwax drops
Cerumenolytic agents or wax drops are water or oil-based liquid solutions that help thin, soften, break up, and/or dissolve earwax. This method is generally used as a first line option against earwax.
Curettage
Curettage involves the use of an ear curette, a small specialised instrument designed to gently "scoop" excess earwax out of the ear canal. The instrument can be used to remove earwax or foreign objects out of the ear that cannot be removed using microsuction techniques.
Microsuction
Microsuction is a dry and effective earwax removal method used by the expert team at Audika^ to remove excess earwax. The technique is carried out with the use of illuminated binocular glasses so your clinician can clearly visualise inside your ear at all times, whilst a gentle suction device carefully removes earwax build up. Unlike syringing, microsuction does not involve the use of water, reducing the risk of irritation and infection.
