Celebrate 140 years of MLC School!

For 140 years, MLC School has empowered girls to grow, achieve and thrive. Since our founding in 1886, MLC School has championed bold thinking in the education of girls. Our first Principal, Reverend Dr Charles J. Prescott, held views well ahead of his time — ideas that still shape who we are today.

As a proudly non-selective school located in Burwood, MLC School provides an environment where every girl is encouraged to pursue her interests, extend herself in new directions and develop the confidence to lead with integrity.
Girls are supported to take intellectual risks, speak with conviction, discover new strengths and build a strong sense of agency.
MLC School girls can choose the academic pathway that best suits their goals, with both the Higher School Certificate and the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme offered for Year 11 and Year 12. Strong academic results, excellent learning growth and outstanding university offers reflect a culture that values not only achievement, but ambition, identity and momentum.
With more than 80 co-curricular activities across Sport, Music, Debating, Cadets, Dance, Drama and more, every girl has the opportunity to explore her interests, pursue new passions and contribute meaningfully to school life.
As we celebrate 140 years of excellence in girls’ education, MLC School honours the generations of students, staff and Old Girls who have shaped a remarkable story. Over 20,000 young women have walked through our doors over the past 140 years. Their achievements continue to inspire.
