Looking for a meaningful way to spend time with family, friends or colleagues this spring? Sleep Under the Stars returns to Taronga Zoo this October!

On Friday 16 October, hundreds of people from across Sydney will come together at Taronga Zoo for Sleep Under the Stars, an unforgettable overnight experience that helps young people experiencing homlessness build brighter futures. Hosted by Benjamin Law, the event brings together people from all walks of life for a night of connection, reflection and impact.

For more than a decade, Sleep Under the Stars has united families, community groups and workplaces around a simple idea: that every young person deserves a safe place to call home. Since the event began, participants have helped raise more than $8.3 million to support children and young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness.

Supporting children and young people close to home

Many people are surprised to learn that child and youth homelessness exists in communities right across Syndey, and that several of our houses are in the Inner-West.

Stepping Stone House provides long-term housing and wrap-around support for children and young people who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Since 1989, the organisation has supported more than 600 young people on their journey to independence and today supports young people across Sydney, including through homes located in the Inner West.

By taking part in Sleep Under the Stars, you'll help provide safe housing, education support, employment pathways, life skills training and the stability young people need to thrive.

Sydney's most unique charity event

Set on the iconic Concert Lawn at Taronga Zoo, Sleep Under the Stars gives participants the rare opportunity to spend a night overlooking Sydney Harbour, with sweeping views of the city skyline, Harbour Bridge and Opera House. As the sun sets and the lights of Sydney come alive, participants come together to build cardboard shelters, hear inspiring stories and reflect on the challenges faced by young people experiencing homelessness.
