Stylist Sally Mackinnon shows us her favourite trends for summer

Spring has sprung and now is the perfect time to head to your nearest Westfield to shop for this season’s must-have pieces to update your wardrobe. As a personal stylist who helps women look and feel their best every day through the clothes they wear, I love the variety on offer at Westfield. There really is something for everyone!

I visited my local, Westfield Doncaster, to check out some of my favourite retailers (and do a spot of sneaky shopping myself) and I’ve put together a round-up of some of the pieces I’m loving and the trends that caught my eye.

I was so thrilled to visit my very first Elka Collective boutique at Westfield Doncaster. Whilst also stocked in David Jones, it was great to view the entire collection and experience the dedicated in-store customer service. If you’re after timeless, elevated, minimalist fashion that you’ll wear for years to come, Elka Collective is a must-visit.

The clean colour palette really is a nod to wearable, everyday womenswear, and with a focus on soft tailoring, the pieces are perfect to take you from the office to the weekend.

I tried on the Lora Vest and Lora Shorts in taupe, a matching set perfect for summer days when you want to feel put together but still relaxed and effortless.

A matching set of any sort is one of my favourite styling tools. When worn together, you’ve got an instant outfit without having to think too hard, but also two separates you and mix and match with other pieces from your wardrobe to create endless new looks.

Chic chocolate

I’m so pleased to see chocolate brown making its way back into our wardrobes. It really is a colour that goes with absolutely everything! Not to mention, it’s a little more understated than black, but just as chic.

I was wearing my own Elka Collective skirt in chocolate and couldn’t wait to see it paired with the Henry Stripe blue shirt. Powder blue and chocolate brown are a colour match made in heaven, and there are plenty of new season goodies from Elka Collective in both palettes. A blue striped shirt also happens to be one of my wardrobe non-negotiables. An oversized one would be the perfect addition with its luxe feel and relaxed silhouette.

Lemon days

Another key colour for the season is lemon. It’s a colour that works with everything (including chocolate brown!) I popped into Stylerunner and spotted these Dakota Linen Tailored Pants. Wide legs pants, especially in linen, are the perfect silhouette for summer and the tailored element of these trousers make them another perfect option for dressing up and dressing down.

I decided to dress them down with a matching oversized lemon t-shirt. Stylerunner has the most amazing range of graphic tees (another wardrobe staple in my opinion) and this Liido Salty Sardines tee was the perfect shade of lemon to create a stylish, tonal look with the linen pants.
