In the first edition of Stylist Secrets with Rachel, she's sharing her expert take on the trends to embrace this Spring/Summer, the wardrobe updates worth investing in and the simple styling tricks that can instantly elevate your everyday look.

1. What fashion trends are you loving this Spring/Summer season?

I’m loving sheer fabrics and texture this season. As the weather heats up and we start shedding the layers, texture is such a beautiful way to add interest to an outfit without needing to do too much. Think lace, sheer details, beautiful silks and fabrics that catch the light. Even a simple outfit can feel elevated when you play with different textures and finishes.

2. What’s the number one styling mistake you see people make?

Neglecting their shoes and bags! Accessories are often the finishing touch that brings an outfit together, but they can also be the thing that dates a look. An outdated bag, worn-out shoes or accessories that don’t complement the outfit can take away from the overall look.

If you’re feeling like your wardrobe needs a refresh, my first recommendation is often to look at your shoes and bags before replacing all your clothes. You’d be surprised how much of a difference an updated pair of shoes or a beautiful new bag can make.

When unsure my top tip for making getting dressed easier is to coordinate your shoes and bag in a similar colour or tone. It creates a cohesive, considered look with very little effort. And don’t underestimate a scarf! It’s a wonderful way to tie the colours in an outfit together, whether you wear it around your neck, in your hair or tied onto your handbag.

3. What are your five must-have wardrobe essentials as we head into the warmer months?

1. Elevated leather slides. A beautiful pair of leather slides or leather thongs can instantly lift an outfit, taking you beyond your everyday Birkenstocks and basic rubber thongs while still keeping things comfortable.

2. An interesting bag. Look for woven textures, beautiful finishes or a shape that adds personality to your outfit. It’s an easy way to make even the simplest look feel special.

3. Jewellery you can layer. A few versatile pieces that you can wear together or separately will work hard in your wardrobe. Even a simple pair of earrings can make an everyday outfit feel more polished.

4. A versatile summer dress. Find a dress that can take you from brunch to dinner with a simple change of shoes, jewellery and accessories. Versatility is key!

5. Fresh, well-fitting basics. Don’t underestimate the power of updating your basic tops. Look beyond the usual ribbed singlets and T-shirts and try fine-knit fabrics, beautiful lightweight knits or a singlet in a satin or silk finish. These small changes in texture can make everyday basics feel more elevated while still being easy to wear.

One of the things I love most about Westfield Booragoon is the variety. There’s such a great mix of fashion, with something to suit different styles, budgets, ages and lifestyles.
