Sustainability and community with The Living Pantry
The Living Pantry at Westfield Tuggerah is a community initiative curated by our resident gardener in conjunction with Nido Early School children. Sponsored by Big W, the garden teaches the children about sustainability from harvest to plate.
Located at the back of the food court next to Nido Early School, the garden focuses on weather tolerant herbs and seasonal vegetables that are grown and then harvested by the children with the guidance of our resident gardener, teaching them about where food comes from, the environment and what it means to be sustainable. The Living Pantry provides the children with the opportunity to try a range of foods that they’ve grown themselves and learn more about the science of cooking and the nutritional value of different foods.
The garden offers a space for relaxation and connection for all customers to enjoy that includes a mural by local artist Brent Smith and an outdoor seating area providing a true community space at Westfield Tuggerah.
