Thank you for voting for your 2026 Westfield Tea Tree Plaza Local Hero. We are excited to announce the successful hero on 20 October.

In 2026, the successful hero for each of our 42 Westfield destinations is awarded a $20,000 grant for the organisation or group they represent, and each finalist receives a $5,000 grant for their organisation or group.

2027 nominations open 20 October.

Meet our Westfield Local Hero finalists

Marial Machar

Rams Sport Group

Dedicated. Purposeful. Transformative.

Marial Machar founded Rams Sports Group to build a place for belonging and opportunity for young people from culturally diverse and marginalised communities; something he felt was missing during his childhood upbringing. His basketball program engages hundreds of young people each week through sport, mentoring and wellbeing support.

If Marial is successful, the grant will fund additional basketball court time for training, as well as equipment such as basketballs, uniforms, and training resources.

Sandy Stone

I-CASPA

Inclusive. Selfless. Caring.

Through her inclusive arts program, Sandy Stone gives people living with a disability the chance to perform and be celebrated. As director and co-founder of I-CASPA, she works with participants to build their confidence on stage and share their talents with families, carers and public audiences at events across the community.

If Sandy is successful, the grant will fund costumes, transport, upgraded sound equipment, marketing and additional out-of-hours carer support.

Terry Davenport

Surrey Downs Men's Social Group

Compassionate. Committed. Determined.

Terry Davenport helps people across Surrey Downs find connection, support and community. Through the Surrey Downs Men's Social Group Men's Social Group and other programs including Chat Seat program, counselling and live-music sing-alongs, the retired counsellor is tackling social isolation and helping people access support when they need it most.

If Terry is successful, the grant will build on the Surrey Downs Men's Social Group, by providing weekly education sessions focused on independent skills, such as cooking, using online services and managing personal health.
