We congratulate all of our finalists and recognise the important contribution they make to the local community.

This year Westfield will award 126 grants across Australia and New Zealand totalling $1.25M. Now in its 7th year, the Westfield Local Heroes program will have contributed $8.6M to more than 860 successful Local Hero organisations since it began.

Voting has now closed and the Westfield Local Heroes will be announced 15 October.

Meet our Local Hero finalists

Elizabeth (Beth) Spanos

Penrith Community Kitchen

Generous. Inclusive. Selfless.

Elizabeth (Beth) Spanos is a dedicated volunteer and committee member at Penrith Community Kitchen. In her role, she helps dish up nutritious meals to 500 people weekly while combating social isolation. Beth has recently helped expand the kitchen's services to support families in 12 local schools by providing pantry food and meals.

If Beth is successful in the community vote, the funding will be used to provide food to 12 local schools, ensuring no child goes hungry.

Joshua Montillano

Ted Noffs Foundation

Inclusive. Patient. Dedicated.

Joshua Montillano, a youth drug and alcohol counsellor at Ted Noffs Foundation, has built a strong rapport with at-risk youth. Through harm reduction and creative therapeutic workshops, Josh provides treatment to over 100 young people per year. He is motivated to give back to the community and advocate for those in need.

If Joshua is successful in the community vote, the money will be used to renovate and expand the recording studio at The Street University. The studio attracts hundreds of at-risk youths every year, linking young people to the organisation’s valuable services.

Susan Bor

Kassie’s Cases

Caring. Dilligent. Passionate.

Sue Bor, a dedicated advocate for children in crisis and volunteer with Kassie's Cases. This initiative provides suitcases filled with clothing, toys and essentials for kids entering foster care or escaping domestic violence. Each bag, packed and distributed by Sue, offers children a sense of belonging and dignity.

If Susan is successful in the community vote, the money will be used to purchase and fill 100 suitcases for children in need.
