In early 2023, we will open nominations for the 2023 Westfield Local Heroes program, so start thinking about those people in your communities who make a difference.

Your 2022 Westfield Penrith Local Hero is:

Jodie Amor

Pink Finss Charity
Inspirational. Compassionate. Brave

Inspirational Jodie Amor provides practical and emotional support to hundreds of women diagnosed with cancer.

Jodie founded her charity Pink Finss after her experience with an aggressive form of breast cancer at 33 years of age made her realise the importance of connecting with others and seeking help.

Over the past 12 years, Jodie and her fellow volunteers have supported more than 350 women and their families. They help with cleaning, provide meals, run support groups and offer oncology-specific massage.

Many women the Pink Finss helped have stayed connected to Jodie and love that through Pink Finss they can provide support to other women diagnosed.

Given she did not have a family history of breast cancer, Jodie is passionate about cancer awareness and devotes much time to encouraging women to have regular check-ups regardless of their age.

Jodie understands how lucky she is to have beat her cancer diagnosis and others are not so lucky. But she is proud she helped make their journey a little more manageable and that she continues to offer support to their families.

“Being able to provide this support to others makes me realise how important it is to your recovery and I am so proud to wake up daily knowing I am making a difference to so many others”.

Inspirational Jodie Amor founded to fill a gap in support for women diagnosed with cancer and since 2010 has supported more than 350 women. Jodie’s charity was inspired by her cancer experience, and the need to connect with others diagnosed with cancer who know exactly how it feels.

Pink Finss will use its funds to continue it’s service offering to women and will expand its service offering to men diagnosed with cancer.

We also congratulate our finalists who will receive a $5,000 grant for the organisation they represent, and we thank them for their incredible contribution to the local community.

Samantha from The Haven - Nepean Women's Shelter
Samantha (Sam) makes a life-changing difference for hundreds of local women and children as the manager of The Haven – Nepean Women’s Shelter. Sam's unique style of gentleness with purpose has enabled her to create a caring and supportive community to help women escaping domestic violence regain their self-worth and independence.
