Westmead Hospital

Of the 5,000 babies born every
year at Westmead Hospital,
around 1500 will spend time in
the neonatal intensive care unit
(NICU), where they and their
families receive Ebony’s love and
attention.
Ebony is a NICU nurse who goes
beyond medical care to ensure that
families feel as comfortable, positive
and supported as possible.

The Kaizen Foundation

Kalil founded The Kaizen Foundation to teach Brazilian JiuJitsu to disadvantaged youth, offering them the chance to
build discipline and resilience in a supportive community.
His programs, inspired by his own positive experiences with
Jiu-Jitsu, help up to 700 children. Kalil collaborates with
schools and local organisations to ensure everyone can take
part, regardless of background.

Riding for Disabled Association Tall Timbers

For three decades, Nicole has helped young people with
physical, cognitive or social disabilities to participate more
in society through equine programs. Starting as a volunteer
and now program coordinator and staff coach, she leads
horse therapy initiatives that help with life skills, social skills,
speech and mental health.

New South Wales Power Chair Football

Jaxon Taylor was born with a rare
muscle disease called Merosin
Deficient Muscular Dystrophy
and requires use of a wheelchair.
Despite facing health challenges,
he positively influences our
community through active
participation in Powerchair football
and extending guidance to young
players on and off the field.

Westmead Hospital Foundation

Professor Jeremy Chapman AC has dedicated his career
to helping people with kidney disease in Western Sydney.
He has significantly influenced global kidney, pancreas
and bone marrow transplants, improving the health
outcomes for thousands of people worldwide. Now retired,
he continues to support others by volunteering with the
Westmead Hospital Foundation.

Inspirational Saraswathi Sashi
dedicates her life to counselling and
guiding local people from culturally
and linguistically diverse communities.
Saraswathi is a volunteer Life Coach
and Holistic Counsellor at Sewa
Australia, a non-profit organisation
serving the community with
humanitarian aid, disaster relief and
community development programs.

Ward Angels

Josie Dincel is the founder of Ward Angels, which provides
toys, therapy equipment, toiletries, emergency clothing, food
and financial support for families in Paramatta and across NSW.
Josie has attracted a small team of dedicated volunteers from
all walks of life. They enjoy seeing from start to finish how
much their efforts are helping others.

WestWords

Michael Campbell is the Executive Director at WestWords, which
promotes self-expression and is dedicated to celebrating and
championing the people, places and cultures that comprise the
heart of Western Sydney. The organisation creates employment
for writers and runs hundreds of activities that have helped
writers of all ages tell their stories.
