This month, we had the chance to catch up with the Gelatissimo team to discover their passion for crafting authentic gelato and sharing sweet moments with the communitu.

Gelatissimo has quickly become a local favourite at North Lakes, known for serving up scoops that are as fun as they are flavourful. From timeless classics to new, limited-edition creations, there’s always something fresh to try. At the end of the day, their goal is simple—sharing great gelato and plenty of smiles with the community.

What drew you to become part of the Gelatissimo family?

We were drawn to Gelatissimo because of its passion for creating authentic, high-quality gelato. What truly sets us apart is that we make our gelato fresh in-store every day using traditional techniques and fresh, seasonal ingredients. This commitment to quality, combined with our excitement for creating innovative new flavours, is what drew us in. We love the chance to share a premium gelato experience with our community.

What’s the most popular flavour customers can’t get enough of?

Our most popular flavour is definitely the award-winning Mango Sorbet. Made with prized Kensington Pride mangoes from Queensland, it's a refreshing and fruity best-seller, especially during the summer. For those who prefer something richer, our customers also consistently love the Wicked Double Choc Brownie, Salted Macadamia and Dulce de Leche.

Do you have any unique or limited-edition flavours we should keep an eye out for?

Absolutely! We love keeping things exciting with unique, limited-edition flavours. We often collaborate with other brands or draw inspiration from different parts of the world. Some of our recent creations have included Dubai Chocolate and Peanut Butter Brownie. The best way to stay in the loop on our latest creations is to follow us on social media or check our website.

On average, how many gelatos do you scoop per day?

The number of gelatos we scoop can vary a lot depending on the day of the week and the season. While we don't have a specific average, on a hot summer's day at our North Lakes store, we can scoop thousands of servings for all our wonderful customers.

If you had to recommend one flavour for a first-time visitor, what would it be?

For a first-time visitor, you can't go wrong with our Salted Caramel. It's a classic that perfectly balances sweet and salty, making it a crowd-pleaser and a great introduction to the rich, creamy texture of our gelato. If you're looking for something more refreshing, the Mango Sorbet is an excellent choice that showcases the quality of our fruit-based sorbets.

What do you love most about being part of the North Lakes community?

We love being a part of the vibrant Westfield North Lakes shopping centre. More than just selling gelato, we see ourselves as a factory of smiles. We're a key destination for people looking to relax and enjoy a treat, and being a part of this community means we get to serve a diverse range of customers, from families to students and provide a delicious, freshly made product that brings a little bit of joy to their day.

Do you or your team have a favourite flavour?

While everyone on the team has their own personal favourite, a top choice is definitely the award-winning Wicked Double Choc Brownie. This flavour is a rich milk chocolate gelato packed with brownie chunks and a chocolate brownie sauce swirl - a true favourite for any chocolate lover. Many of us also love the Boysenberry Swirl, which uses fresh Australian boysenberries.
