Remembrance Day at Westfield Penrith

Remembrance Day is one of the most important days on our commemorative calendar. Observed on 11 November each year, it is a time to honour and remember those who have died while serving in wars, conflicts and peacekeeping operations.

What's happening this Remembrance Day at Westfield Penrith

Remembrance poppies

Eight large poppies will be positioned around the fountain at Westfield Penrith, creating a meaningful display for customers to pause, reflect and pay their respects.

The Last Post ceremony

Join us at 11am on 11 November as buglers perform The Last Post throughout the centre. Customers are invited to observe a minute's silence as we honour the service and sacrifice of those who have served.

The symbols of Remembrance Day

The red poppy and rosemary: Red poppies are a recognised symbol of Remembrance Day, inspired by the flowers that grew across the battlefields of France and Belgium during the First World War. Rosemary is also associated with remembrance and memory, serving as a reminder to honour those who have made the ultimate sacrifice.

The Last Post: Traditionally played on a bugle, The Last Post has a longstanding association with military ceremonies and remembrance services. During Remembrance Day, it symbolises a final farewell to the fallen and invites us to pause and reflect on the sacrifices made by service personnel.
