Iconic Australian label Carla Zampatti exuded powerful femininity with a triumphant opening night show on 12 May. This was the label's 60th anniversary runway show, titled Ubiquity, which celebrated the legacy of the late Carla Zampatti and how her designs have - and continue to - empower women over 60 decades and into the future.

The collection features the distinct tone of Zampatti, with crisp, clean lines, flowing silhouettes and bold minimalism. Tailored suiting, evening gowns and elegant two-piece looks graced the runway in neutrals, black and white, and this year's statement colours, butter yellow and mint green.

Embodying modernity, longevity, and sustainability, JOSEPH & JAMES made its solo debut at Australian Fashion Week 2025. Designer Juanita Page is a proud Gooreng Gooreng and South Sea Islander woman bringing a distinctive feel to the Australian menswear landscape where high fashion meets streetwear.

Wardrobe staples on this year's runway highlight Page's design ethos of "additions" that can be blended seamlessly with a wide range of outfits. Minimalist shorts and trousers in muted tones, detailed knits and bold outerwear displayed an effortlessly chic take on menswear.

Nagnata’s show, titled Return to Earth debuted a new era for the brand, led by founder and creative director, Laura May. Beginning the show with an immersive short film, Nagnata’s future vision was clear, as it launched its first organic cotton denim line, exclusively using plant-based dyes. The show revealed the brand’s belief that garments should be made to last, but also created with the Earth in mind.

Featuring bold pops of red amid a neutral palette of predominantly black and brown tones, the collection remains true to Nagata’s style and commitment to sustainability. With luxury and lifestyle at the forefront, activewear was seamlessly paired with denim, knitwear and street-ready trousers.

Aje's 'Impression' collection stunned on the Australian Fashion Week runway, with looks inspired by the natural world from head to toe. Designers Adrian Norris and Edwina Forest stick to their roots, drawing on raw beauty and tough femininity in this collection, described as "reclaimed by nature".

Ruffles, embroidery and buttons are the stars of the show, with texture being used to mimic nature while creating shape and motion in each piece of the collection. As for colour, pastels are sprinkled throughout off-white and shades of cream, with dark blues and blacks in stark contrast to the overall softness of Aje's runway collection.

Hansen & Gretel is a brand that encompasses the ethos 'femininity with bite'. Creative director, Ainsley Hansen brings designs to the 2025 Australian Fashion Week runway that keep true to this ethos, with pieces that are distinctly feminine, but have a masculine edge.

Sharp lines meet soft, draped materials in the collection, with turquoise, greens and blues as the primary colours, which help to draw attention to the boho-inspired patterns and textures. This relaxed, resort feel blends seamlessly with the feel of Australian Fashion Week this year, which can be seen throughout the week-long fashion event.

Australian Fashion Week took place in Sydney from 12-16 May.
