Get brave: All eyes on you

Get brave: All eyes on you

Brace yourselves, because this spring’s beauty trends are not lacking in personality and pizzazz. Clean your brushes, pull out your palettes and steady your hand, because it’s time to try something new. It’s nudes no more this season – from bright neon pigments to unexpected liner, here are four of the latest eye makeup trends that will have you stepping out into the sunshine with that added glow.

Coloured eyeliner is back

Move over Picasso, ladies and gents it is time to get your inner artist on. This season, eyeliner is back with a vengeance, and we are not talking your standard black winged look. Bright colours, crazy shapes and floating lines will be filling up your feeds, and we aren’t mad about it. Whether you opt for a single stroke of colour or intend to experiment with some quirky designs, skip the eyeshadow and accentuate your peepers using a range of eyeliners from Priceline Pharmacy and Chemist Warehouse.

  • For blue eyes: Layering a cobalt blue eyeliner alongside your already cool-blue eyes is a big yes! The complementary shades work to make your eyes look brighter and even more striking.
  • For green eyes: Play with contrasts and line your green eyes with a purple or magenta shade.
  • For brown eyes: Lucky you! You can take your pick because every colour will accentuate your beautiful brown eyes. Pink is particularly popular right now and is the perfect accompaniment to a feminine frock.

Try pastel watercolours

Nothing speaks spring more than pretty pastel hues, and these oh-so-dreamy watercolour looks encompass just that. Now’s the time to mix a couple of shades together to create a dreamy wash of colour. Simply dip your brush in water and get mixing to intensify the pigments and create the ultimate blend. For the beauty minimalists out there, while it means ditching the no-makeup-makeup look and introducing a bit of colour, this may be the perfect trend for you if you want to shake things up.

Whether you contrast or theme your eyes with your outfit, either way this look is a showstopper. If you’re feeling adventurous, add some depth and blend several tones across your lids, you will end up with a look everyone will walk away feeling inspired to recreate (trust us). Shop the perfect pastel palettes from MECCA.

Pack a neon punch

For a turn in the other direction, another trend high on our radar this season is neon. From an all over smokey look to just aflush of colour on the inner eyes, it’s time to ramp it up and experiment with your neon game this spring. When deciding what colour to rock, don’t fret, it really is a free for all as whatever hue you choose is bound to make a statement. From a single pigment to a full palette, Napoleon Perdis and MECCA have an endless range to choose from.

Gloss for the final touch

Gloss is taking on a whole new purpose this spring. Not only is it the perfect beauty product to pucker up with, this season it is also the finishing touch to your eyeshadow routine. And the best thing about it is it makes you look like the ultimate beauty queen in just one simple step. To create this perfectly polished look in seconds, apply a small amount of clear gloss to your lids with your finger and blend up towards the crease. Head to MAC and MECCA to shop the perfect multi-purpose gloss.
