Announcing your 2026 Westfield Local Hero

Your 2026 Westfield Belconnen Local Hero is:

Eryn Marshall

Eryn Marshall Artistry

Courageous. Compassionate. Impactful.

Eryn Marshall has been awarded a $20,000 grant for their organisation, Eryn Marshall Artistry.

Eryn Marshall uses colour, storytelling and artwork to spark honest conversations about eating disorders and mental health, helping to reduce stigma and foster understanding across the Canberra community.

Through her creative business, Eryn Marshall Artistry, she creates exhibitions in local spaces and live illustration experiences that raise awareness and encourage conversations about topics that are often difficult to discuss. In turn, this helps build understanding, empathy and confidence to support those who may be struggling.

Eryn’s own experience of an eating disorder has helped shape her work. “Having experienced recovery myself, I understand how isolating silence can be and how powerful it is when someone speaks openly,” she explains.

"Art became my pathway to healing, and now it is the vehicle I use to create that same sense of hope for others.”

As well as encouraging understanding of eating disorders within the community, Eryn donates a portion of her sales to the Butterfly Foundation, which supports people and families affected by eating disorders.

She says, “The conversations I’m having around eating disorders and mental health are making an impact beyond the canvas. I am driven to contribute tangible support through fundraising and advocacy, so that more people in my community can access understanding, connection, and the possibility of recovery.”

We'd like to thank and acknowledge our finalists who will receive a $5,000 grant for the organisation they represent
