7 ways to entertain kids outdoors this spring

Spring is here, bringing with it warmer weather and longer days. So it’s time to come out of hibernation, take those big coats off and get outside for some good old outdoor activities. Getting outside with the kids is the perfect way to wear off their (what seems like endless) energy. Let’s cut to the chase and get straight to our top 7 outdoor games and activities for kids.

Cricket

This old classic is perfect to get the neighbourhood kids together on the street or play with friends on a day at the beach. All you need is a bat, ball and a cricket stump, making it super easy!

Gardening

This is the perfect activity for the school holidays, as kids can be put in charge of looking after a pot plant or an unused part of the veggie garden. Spring is a great time to plant new things and the kids will love to watch their plant grow.

Kite flying

There isn’t much physical activity needed when flying a kite so this is the perfect option for a more relaxing outdoors experience. Even take it a step further and get the kids to create their own kite by heading down to the the craft shop.

Play hopscotch

If you have chalk, you have hopscotch, as well as at least an hour's entertainment for the kids entertained.

Walk the dog

It’s time to get the kids out walking the dog that they begged for and told you they would look after. The exercise is great for the kids and the dogs and a bit of fresh air will do everyone some good.

Bike riding

The chill is slowly being taken out of the air, so there's no reason why you and your kids' bikes can’t be taken out for a spin without the fear of them getting a cold.

Head to the park

All that extra energy will be gone after a visit to the park. It’s a great way to take in the sunnier weather and get the kids active again after hibernating in the house during winter.
