Ally May Carey: Five pieces, four ways

Digital creator and style guru, Ally May Carey, took on our challenge to create four looks using five pieces from Cue’s new Winter 22 collection. Read on for her tips on how to get the most out of a few key pieces this season.

What are you loving about the new range and what is your favourite piece you’ve chosen?

The rich tones, sharp silhouettes, statement pieces and textures work so well with each other. I’m loving the Cue Mustard Double Breasted Blazer paired with the Cue Mustard Frill Belt Pant, as it adds a pop of colour whilst working seamlessly with the creams.

How do you transition your summer wardrobe into autumn and beyond?

To make the transition from summer, I find layering and buying textured pieces makes my wardrobe work across seasons.

Which Cue wardrobe essentials work in a year-round wardrobe?

Cue’s Mustard Double Breasted Blazer, Cotton Tweed Skirt and mid layers all work well year-round. When shopping for new looks, I think it’s important to consider whether it could be worn throughout the seasons. For example, a button down will transcend any season, as will an A-line skirt. You can really change the look of these items depending on the season, based on how you accessorise them!

What is your secret to styling different looks from fewer pieces?

If you buy timeless silhouettes that transcend seasons, you can get away with wearing them year after year. My secret to styling different looks is to ensure that when buying a new piece, you know they will work with multiple outfits. For example, Cue’s Cotton Tweed Skirt has such a timeless shape and can be styled with any button down, singlet or blazer.

What are the items of clothing you couldn't live without in a capsule wardrobe?

When it comes to wardrobe basics, I could never live without a blazer, over-sized shirt, jeans and simple tee.

What is your go-to palette this season?

This autumn, I'm leaning into a mix of beige, chocolate hues, orange and green. The trending tones of this seasons are so rich and it’s a nice change from previous years. I am loving that everyone is adopting colour back into their regular rotation.

How are you incorporating this colour mix into your wardrobe?

I’ll be adding core pieces in these tones, instead of trend-based items. Cue’s Winter 22 collection includes a diverse range of hues which will work well with my “True Autumn” complexion, so I know I will be wearing them for years to come. If you haven’t already looked into the four seasons colour analysis, do so, it will change how you dress!
