The BIRKENSTOCK Rio sandal was designed back in the 1970's, it has been a laid-back summer companion for generations of children ever since. When play gets heated, the cut-out sections keep things light and airy. The upper is made from the skin-friendly, hard-wearing synthetic material Birko-Flor® in a sophisticated nubuck look which boasts a texture and colour that could almost be mistaken for real leather.

The original BIRKENSTOCK footbed, is inspired by the natural imprint of a foot in the sand. Its anatomical shape ideally supports the natural walking action of your foot. Your feet, joints and back are protected. At the same time, your foot and leg muscles are exercised, and your health and well-being benefit as a result.
