The SLT56 is a tank transporter currently in operation by the Bundeswehr.
In order to transport the Leopard 2A5 / A6, which has increased in weight due to the installation of increased armor, it was developed as an alternative vehicle to the SLT50 Elephant in the 1980s, and a total of 49 vehicles were produced and introduced.
As a change from SLT50, the tractor part has changed from 8x8 wheel drive of SLT50 to 8x6 wheel drive, and small diameter tires are used for the semi-trailer.
The light embedded in the front bumper is a single light on the SLT50, but it is a tandem light on the SLT56.
