Lighting

The days are shorter and we don’t get to see as much of the sun, so replace that light with, well… more light! Adding lamps to a room will not only add to the aesthetic but brighten the room a little more, so don’t underestimate the power of a good lamp. Opt for cool or daylight tones when it comes to your light bulbs, as these reflect the daylight the most and will help to keep away those winter blues.

Cushions and throws

Both visually and physically warming, throws are a great way to dress up your lounge, chair or bed and are perfect to use when the temperature drops of a night time. Cushions look just as good and can help to add to the cosiness of a chair, so don’t be afraid to go crazy with them. These two items are livesavers for those budget makeovers, as they can be relatively cheap and can make a massive difference to the look and feel of a room.

Accessories

If you are a bit hesitant about adding colour to your house, the best place to start is with accessories. This could be anything from a bright vase to a new artwork on your wall – keep adding pops of colour until you are happy with how the room is looking. Head to your local homewares shop and pick out a few items that spark your interest.
