Style-savvy Children's wear for any occasion

Tara Dixon shares her top tips in dressing the little ones for the upcoming event season

Not only does the warmer weather bring the season of love, but one of the country’s most loved events, the Spring Racing Carnival!

What’s great about if you’re heading the the races with your kids, is that their Spring racing outfits can double as wedding or special occasion wear.

Boy’s fashion really has gone up a notch on the trend scale, and the price tags have stayed low. BONUS! We are seeing more and more affordable fashion stores such as Kmart, Target and Best and Less produce great wearable, durable and very much timeless clothing for boys.

Target have a wonderful range of boy’s formal wear in sizes right down to a one - for the smallest and cutest wedding attendants.

Shirts as far as the eyes can see in most stores but for me, Best and Less were the front runner this season with built in bow ties, fun prints and a huge selection in both long and short sleeve options. From your absolute basics, to your show stoppers.

I couldn’t go past Shoes and Sox for both girls and boys shoe selections. They have everything you could need for young kids, they are fit for performance and comfort. Personally I choose a shoe than can be worn with many more outfits past the day of the occasion. Kids grow so fast, so a special occasion shoe (unless in the bridal party) really can be a giant waste of money, because it won’t fit next season.

Now girls really have been spoilt for choice is clothing, and special occasion dresses are never hard to find.

With a strong shift to jumpsuits and power dressing in both women’s and girls fashion, I’m not surprised they are popping up in the kids aisles. Best and Less had this metallic little number that any girl would go gah-gah over!

Pastels and rainbow colours are big this season and tell me a little lady who doesn’t love some colour. It’s so playful, pretty and most importantly age appropriate.

Accessories, the fashion pages are telling us “Out with the hats and in with the accessories.” Hair clips and this years MUST-HAVE in both every day wear and special occasion looks. Little girls are no exception. Layering multiple colours or styles is ‘hot-to-trot’! Cotton On and Kmart are the best value for money and the variety is BIG!
