Officially called the Metropolitan Museum of Art Costume Institute Benefit, 'the party of the year' is an all-out extravagant, black tie, red carpet event where exclusive A-list celebrities have their high fashion moment.
This year’s theme was Manus vs Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology. With imaginations running wild, attending celebrities didn't shy away from bold and creative architectural looks. We saw a lot of stunning monochromatic silver, crystal bead detailing and whimsical gowns with flowing trains. Beyoncé arrived fashionably late in a worldly peach latex gown.
Supermodel Jourdan Dunn showcased her slender figure in a sleek silver futuristic creation thanks to Balmain. Glitz and glam can be achieved in our normal not so A-list lives by wearing striking jewellery. Check out Swarovski in Westfield Penrith for some beautiful crystal pierced earrings to add a touch of sparkle.
At Forever New the Lilly hi-Lo Hem Prom dress in navy channels Adiana Lima's polished evening glam look. Go for a hologram hard case clutch to carry with your outfit like the Freya Mesh Clutch from Colette by Colette Hayman, this would have worked perfectly with Taylor Swifts edgier look featuring a shimmering, snake-skin mini dress. For me, the best dressed at this year’s Met Gala was the pop star Rita Ora. She wore a show-stopping custom Vera Wang dress. Taking 8 weeks to make, made completely out of hand painted metallic feathers flown in from Paris of course! So many gorgeous looks, this year's Met Ball was definitely a fashion party to be remembered!
