"No makeup" makeup: how to do natural makeup in under 5 minutes
Why are mornings always so rushed? Whether you have kids you need to get organised for school, you can't seem to get out of bed on time, or you have an early meeting at work, this time of day is notoriously busy – meaning we often have to ditch our makeup routine altogether and scoff a piece of peanut butter toast while running out the door.
Thankfully, it is actually possible to do your makeup in under five minutes flat. In fact, this 'no makeup' makeup look has become a trend all of its own, with your favourite makeup brands releasing products that are made for a fresh, everyday face. All it takes is freshly moisturised and primed skin and a handful of products to give you the glow of someone who's had a full night's sleep – and enough time to sit down to a proper breakfast.
How to achieve the 'no makeup' makeup look in under five minutes:
Moisturise your skin, then prime it with a spritz of the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray. This product is great as it doubles as a setting spray too. It's important to keep your products to a minumum when you're rushed (or doing your makeup in the car park!)
Skip the heavy foundation and apply a BB cream or tinted gel, like the bareMinerals Complexion Rescue with a couple drops of The Body Shop Honey Bronze Drops of Sun Holiday Glow mixed in. Use your fingers to mix together and blend quickly and evenly into the skin. This combo is sheer enough to give you that lightweight 'no makeup' makeup look.
- Conceal dark circles with the NARS Creamy Concealer from David Jones, painting it on in outwards strokes from the inner corner of your eye, then blend by patting with your ring finger or a beauty blender sponge.
Dab your fingertip in the Inglot AMC Cream Blush, smile and blend into the apples of your cheeks for a rosy flush that gives your skin life!
Next, take a cream highlighter stick (easier to apply when you're on the go) and draw it along your cheekbones and ever so slightly on the bridge of your nose and your cupid's bow. Blend along your cheekbones and onto your temples using your warm fingertips. We love the Benefit Watts Up Cream Highlighter from Glue Store.
If you need more bronzing (even after the Drops of Sun Holiday Glow) give yourself a light dusting wherever the sun would usually hit, using the Sportsgirl Bronze Me Bronzing Powder and Real Techniques Bronzer Retractable Bronzer Brush from Price Attack. Use your bronzer as a quick eyeshadow by applying a small amount to your eyelids and blending with your finger.
For natural brows that aren't too harsh, skip the crayons, pencils and kits and simply apply the Anastasia Beverly Hills Clear Brow Gel from Sephora, in a few strokes upwards and outwards.
Close your eyes and spritz your entire face with the MAC Prep + Prime Fix+ Spray to set your makeup.
Apply a slick of Dior Lip Glow Color Reviver Balm from David Jones, which enhances your natural lip, rather than adding any colour. Perfect for this look!
- Now that your setting spray has dried, coat your lashes with the iconic Maybelline Great Lash Mascara from My Chemist. Seeing as we're going for a pretty, fresh face (and we're pressed for time!) one coat is enough.
