Rebekah Callaghan x Gorman
Philadelphia based artist, Rebekah Callaghan has a thing for plants, painting them as they change through the seasons, finding new and unexpected ways of seeing them.
This Autumn, Gorman have collaborated with the American artist on a collection that mirrors the change in season; beginning with vibrant warm hues, turning to woody browns and then to deep, leafy greens.
Callaghan studied in Rome, Italy whilst receiving her BFA from Temple University Philadelphia and went on to earn her MFA from Rutgers University, New Jersey. Exhibiting nationally and internationally, Rebekah not only creates art but teaches as well.
Painting the familiar yet ever- changing world of plants and garden life, she's interested in the idea that there is always something new to be found in the 'ordinary'. Through playing with colour, form, light and shadow, she reinvents what she observes in nature until she creates something that surprises her.
In their latest collaboration, Callaghan's botanical scenes make their way across a range of apparel and accessories, creating a collection that makes us view foliage through fresh eyes.
If you look closely you'll find new and interesting textile techniques explored throughout the collection. Observe devore burnout detailing, metallic jacquards and contrast splicing using Callaghan's original works such as Gathering, Silver Mound and Broad Leaf.
The first print from the Rebekah Callaghan x Gorman collaboration is now avaliable in store and online with new styles arriving weekly.
